Oh, Hey There!

I’ve been quite the busy bee since my last post in OCTOBER! Can not believe it has been that long, I’m literally gasping inside my head. Anywho, working two jobs and going to school has left very little time to play with all the goodies out there in the beauty world. But, I promise to squeeze in some time to blog daily (note: I’ve never been good about time management). I’ve missed ya’ll and can not wait to share my faves.

See ya soon, lovelies!

I will be attending my best friend’s birthday party in a few weeks and the theme is all about the Roaring Twenties. People generally have an idea of how Flappers look but it seems a bit tricky recreating that Twenties smokey eye. Personally, I am awful with eye makeup so I need all the help I can get! Also, not gonna lie- I am nervous about wearing a dark lip. I have very strong middle eastern features and dark lips just does not look good on me.

After scouring all of YouTube, I found this great and thorough tutorial by Blush Beauty Tutor. It is a bit long, but she does such an amazing job. Check it out!

Dermablend Love

Dermablend Love
Do you have oily, acne prone skin?
These nifty setting powders from Dermablend are my newest discoveries. A light dusting will keep grease in check all day. No joke. You only need a tiny bit, so a container or compact will last for ages! The powders were created as a companion to Dermablend foundations, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand. Also, do not freak out about the shade! If applied with a light hand, it blends beautifully into your face. I like to pat the powder on after applying foundation, then sweep over my face with the super soft brush.
Stop by Ulta or Macy’s and try these out! The powders are $24, the brush is $33.

Circle Busting Duo

Circle Busting Duo
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t struggle with dark circles.  No matter how much rest I get or how healthy I eat, these babies do not disappear! The easiest and least expensive way for me to deal? Benefit’s Bo-ing concealer and their AMAZING Porefessional Primer. I apply a bit of the primer on my lids and circles so that the concealer will go on nice and smooth- the last thing you want is for coverup to settle into fine lines, ugh. This concealer is industrial strength so there is nothing this baby can’t hide! At $50 for both items, these products will last you a long time….and it is cheaper than buying the latest miracle eye cream that we all know really doesn’t work. Am I right?

Two For Siouxie Sioux

Two For Siouxie Sioux
Siouxie Sioux is an icon. Who can forget her signature look from the 80s and early 90s? Siouxie exudes glamour and confidence, thanks in part to the bold red lip and dark eye. You can recreate
this look if you are feeling edgy or just want to be noticed. The best part? You only need these two high/low products!

Almay Favorites

Almay Favorites

I have long admired Almay for offering practical, simple, and time saving makeup. Almost everything from their product line is ‘one step’ or ‘smart shade’, leaving very little room for error. The most recently added items feature an ingenious blush, skin perfecting CC, and colorful lip balms. Let’s take a look!

I am a huge fan of foundation. I get pretty obsessed with faking perfect skin. I may be the only woman who did not jump on the BB bandwagon; to me, BB’s are glorified tinted moisturizers. Now, CC’s are another story. They offer more coverage and this one from Almay promises to brighten and even skin tone over time. It also features the added benefit of including SPF 35 to reduce sun damage, yay! I will warn you, despite the great coverage, is pretty heavy for my oily, acne prone skin. I did not experience breakouts (phew!) but I could definitely feel that I had it on. Not to discourage, but this is best suited for ladies with normal or combination skin. For drier skin, I’d slap on some moisturizer before applying.

Next, the blush. How pretty are the tiny polka dots? It comprises of three different shades that swirl together for the perfect shade. I have the coral, which warms my pale skin up. The pink, pretty as it may be, doesn’t really show up- its too pale for me. If anyone tries it and loves it, let me know!

Last but not least- that lip balm. $4.99, what a price for this product! The shades are highly pigmented and packed with lip conditioners for smooth, bright lips. There are a good range of colors that also are very wearable, no matter the occasion (hot pink for work? Yes!).

Have you had the chance to try these products? I’d love the feedback! xx

Fall Wishlist

Fall Wishlist
1. Lancome Energie De Vie, $55– This cream is designed to give face a healthy glow. It revitalizes dull skin and reduces signs of fatigue. I am all about that ‘glow’, especially in the fall/winter when skin tends to look dry.
2. Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche’ Eclat, $55– Illuminating foundations are a god send. Fake a well rested and healthy visage when combined with the Energie De Vie! It is weightless, evens skin tone and has added SPF 19.
3. Nest Passiflora Rollerball, $25– The entire line of Nest fragrances are heavenly….not to mention beautiful to look at- the fragrance is housed in a glass bottle that will look great on your vanity or when you whip it out of your bag. With notes of Passion flower, Bergamot, and Anjou pear, the scent is fresh and will last all day.
4. Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Jezebel, $18– What an adorable little bottle of happiness. These polishes are 3-Free (toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP) and has an amazing, shiny finish. Jezebel is a rich, dark cherry- perfect for the fall season.
5. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Nocturne, $25– This is a serious color- opaque dark red, similar to lip colors worn by Old Hollywood starlets. Its sexy, creamy, long lasting and doesn’t bleed.
6. Benefit Bathina Body Oil Mist, $34– I have temperamental skin that breaks out very easily. Usually I steer clear of anything containing oil, except for The Body Shop’s line of dry oils- my go-to for summer moisturizing. Now that colder weather is approaching, I want something sexy and rich. This fits the bill. Skin is soft and silky with a gorgeous sheen. A must have for romantic nights!
7. Clinique All About Shadow Single in Black Honey, $15– I love this new line of shadows, especially in this famous shade- a deep rosy, brown-gold. The formula is smooth and crease resistant. They are available in six other shades with either a matte or shimmer finish. Personally, I love shimmer…. no, I’m crazy about it. Nothing opens and brightens eyes like shimmer does.
